Day Courses

discussingAt weekends, we offer a variety of Day Courses (either lasting a full day or half a day), Meditation Workshops (half a day), and Retreats. The Day Courses can be enjoyed by people of all levels of experience, and are particularly suitable for beginners: the teacher gives clear explanations of the subject in plain English, taking straightforward examples from daily life; full guidance is given during meditation; and there are opportunities to ask questions. Particular emphasis is placed on the practical application of Buddha’s teachings to our everyday lives.

Since these last longer than a standard class, they allow the teacher to go into more detail about the topic, helping the students to acquire deeper insights and stronger meditation experiences – leading to the enjoyment of a lighter, happier daily life.

The Day Courses at Buddha Land are usually taught by our Resident Teacher, Gen Kelsang Päljin, a Western Buddhist Monk with 20 years’ experience in Kadampa Buddhism.

Power of Mantra

Half-Day Course

In Person @ Buddha Land Centre

Saturday 3 September, 10am – 1pm

Join us for an inspiring introduction to the ancient practice of mantra recitation. Reciting mantras reduces disturbing emotions and negativity and increases positive states of mind.


Creating Inner Balance : the Practice of Equanimity 

Half-Day Course
@ Burnley KBC

Saturday 1 Oct, 10am – 1pm

In this half day course we will focus on developing the experience of equanimity, a balanced mind free from strong attachment and aversion and having a warm and friendly feeling towards all living beings. Join us for these special teachings and guided meditations to find greater inner peace and to bring more harmony to our relationships.


Forgiving Yourself and Others 

Half-Day Course

Saturday 1 October, 2pm – 5pm

Experience the deep healing and freedom that comes through the power of forgiveness. By dwelling on the harm done to us, we harm ourselves even more. By learning to forgive ourselves and others we create health, loving relationships and a happy life.


Realised Masters of Meditation 

Day Course

@ Buddha Land Centre

Saturday 22 October, 9.30am – 3.30pm

This day course involves imagining our world as the beautiful, perfect place it could be if all those of us who inhabited it cared deeply about each other and our environment. By imagining a pure version of our planet and offering this to the Buddhas, we create the causes for our world to heal, and for us to enjoy actually living in a world which has reached its full potential.
